Liturgy Through your Senses: Special Needs Day Camp

with 2 comments

A few weeks ago I had the honor of being asked to shoot a Special Needs Day Camp that my cousin Toni had been putting together. She is very involved in the Greek church community and wanted to put together a day camp that let children with special needs experience the church service through their senses. They were able to touch different items used during services, smell the incense, taste the communion, etc. They had arts and crafts, a sing-a-long and they ended the day with a great hayride to the farm where they got to pet and feed the animals. It was a great experience and I really enjoyed  spending the day with these kids and getting to know them. They are all so special and make me thankful every day for the gifts that God gives us.

Brandon Family Photos: Seattle Chicago Crossover

leave a comment »

In the beginning of September I had the pleasure of visiting another photographer friend in Seattle. Kenani (of Kenani B Photography)  and I met at Photoshop World in Vegas last year and bonded instantly. We had a great time out there and kept in contact,so this year, to save a lil dough I flew out to Seattle and we had a photo filled week.

The last day I was out there I had the pleasure of shooting some family photos for them. We went up to  a park in the mountains, (literally!)and roamed around there for a while. It was so beautiful, like most of Seattle is, I could have spent the whole day there. It’s always fun shooting another photographer and their family because as photographer’s we so rarely get to be in front of the camera. It’s a creative explosion with a little bit of a control issue. Good times! All in all, it was a good week and we got alot of fun, non work related, photo stuff in which is always good for the soul. Now let’s all work on getting Kenani to Chicago!

Baby Will: Chicago Newborn Photographer

This past week I had the chance to shoot the newest addition to the Blair family. You might remember them from Sam’s 2 year portraits back in November. William Tiernan is their newest little bundle of joy and was a joy to shoot indeed. We got some very sweet shots and wore him out so mom could have a break while he napped later!

Dubinsky Boys: Portrait Photographer

leave a comment »

I had the pleasure of shooting another family portrait for the Dubinsky boys this year! I had taken their family portrait last year so it was great to see how they’ve grown in the past year! They were my last portrait session of 2009 as well, 12-31-09 exactly so that was a nice way to wrap up the year. The boys and their father are big hockey nuts and have an actual hockey rink right in their own backyard, unfortunately I forgot to snap a picture of it but you can just imagine it! Here are some of the pics from their session. The youngest one, “munch” as they called him had a little bit of a hard time smiling unless someone made him laugh so I’ve included some of the outtakes!

Can you believe those ice blue eyes!?

How adorable is he?

His brother kept tickling him to get him to laugh =)

His other brother kept whispering funny movie lines in his ear!

Sam: Portrait Photographer

with 2 comments

This week I had the pleasure of doing a portrait sitting for a special two year old, Sam. I work with Sam’s dad Jeremy at Apple but both Jeremy and his wife Abigail work as elementary school teachers! They are both so wonderful and fun and were doing their best to jump around and make Sam laugh. They got quite a workout in the process. We took a walk through their beautiful subdivision to the park and took advantage of the wonderful fall colors and light. They are also expecting another addition to their family next spring!  It was quite a fun morning! Thanks for letting me be part of your family for the day and I can’t wait to take the newborn pictures!

One of my faves. So Precious.
