Black and White Night : Artists at the Hollywood Lounge

leave a comment »

Last week I had the opportunity to get back in touch with my art school roots. My friend Talie invited me to a poetry/art/music night she hosts at the Hollywood Lounge in Chicago and asked if I could shoot a few pics to document the evening. It was an open mic night  as well as a gallery showing for a local artist. It was great to be in the presence of some very talented people. They have a gift for the spoken word and I was mesmerized by their skill as well as their courage to share their deepest thoughts on the stage.

For those of you interested in attending, Black and White night is hosted at the Hollywood Lounge  in Chicago ( 3301 West Bryn Mawr Avenue Chicago, IL 60659) every other Wednesday night. The next one will be this Wednesday December 3rd 2010. You can find more information on their Facebook page HERE .

Meet LUNCHBOX?  That’s right, LUNCHBOX? How awesome is that for a name?!

Liturgy Through your Senses: Special Needs Day Camp

with 2 comments

A few weeks ago I had the honor of being asked to shoot a Special Needs Day Camp that my cousin Toni had been putting together. She is very involved in the Greek church community and wanted to put together a day camp that let children with special needs experience the church service through their senses. They were able to touch different items used during services, smell the incense, taste the communion, etc. They had arts and crafts, a sing-a-long and they ended the day with a great hayride to the farm where they got to pet and feed the animals. It was a great experience and I really enjoyed  spending the day with these kids and getting to know them. They are all so special and make me thankful every day for the gifts that God gives us.

Megan:Chicago Boudoir Photographer

Megan was another one of the lovely ladies that was part of the Adrienne Clarisse Boutique shoot. Megan is so kick ass. She showed up with a leather vest and black leather rocker boots (which I later found out she bought while she had one broken foot so she could only try one on but was still convinced!)

Megan exudes confidence. She is so comfortable in her own skin I wish I could find a way to bottle that up and take that to every woman I meet! I cannot express how important it is for women to love who they are , just as they are. That is the whole point of boudoir. Megan was so much fun and brought life to the party. I would love to work with her again, and get a lesson in being so kick ass!

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of shooting a pin up party at the Adrienne Clarisse Intimate Boutique

Meet Peg, a gorgeous redhead with the most bubbly, fun personality! She is such a sweetheart and I was honored to work with her. Can you believe she is a mother of triplet boys?! Ya, me neither! Take a look while I run off to go find some awesome red lingerie like that…

Brandon Family Photos: Seattle Chicago Crossover

leave a comment »

In the beginning of September I had the pleasure of visiting another photographer friend in Seattle. Kenani (of Kenani B Photography)  and I met at Photoshop World in Vegas last year and bonded instantly. We had a great time out there and kept in contact,so this year, to save a lil dough I flew out to Seattle and we had a photo filled week.

The last day I was out there I had the pleasure of shooting some family photos for them. We went up to  a park in the mountains, (literally!)and roamed around there for a while. It was so beautiful, like most of Seattle is, I could have spent the whole day there. It’s always fun shooting another photographer and their family because as photographer’s we so rarely get to be in front of the camera. It’s a creative explosion with a little bit of a control issue. Good times! All in all, it was a good week and we got alot of fun, non work related, photo stuff in which is always good for the soul. Now let’s all work on getting Kenani to Chicago!

Rachel Kanner: Chicago Portrait Photographer

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of working with Rachel Kanner of Rachel Kanner Music. She’s a musician from the area but currently operates from New York where she goes to school. She was looking for headshots and I was looking for a gorgeous model! You’ll see what I mean.  I’m not sure which I envied more, her amazing eyes or her ridiculously gorgeous red hair. Either way she rocked it out modeling for me and definitely got the edgier look she was going for. Thanks Rachel for becoming one of the newest models for D. Sampras Photography!

My absolute favorite from her set!
